Running toilet (the water waste)
The most common culprit is the flapper or fill valve. A worn flapper won't seal, letting water leak continuously. Replacing the flapper or adjusting the fill valve is an easy, cheap fix that saves a lot of water.
Weak or slow flush
Check for a partial blockage or a low water level in the tank. Sometimes cleaning the rim holes or adjusting the fill height restores a strong flush. Persistent weakness may point to a bigger supply or drain issue.
Clogged toilet
A plunger (flange type) is the first move. If it won't clear, don't keep forcing it — a plumber with a snake or auger can clear it without damaging the bowl.
Leaking at the base
A leak at the base is more serious — it often means a failed wax ring or a crack, and can damage the floor. Turn off the water and call a plumber rather than letting it sit.
